Alberto Morillas

Alberto Morillas (* 1950 in Seville ) is a Spanish perfumer .

Life

The son of Spanish exiles, he came to Switzerland at the age of 11. After graduating from high school, he began to study art at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva , which he did not finish. He says he was so intrigued by an interview with Jean-Paul Guerlain in Vogue magazine that he decided to become a perfumer. He applied to the fragrance manufacturer Firmenich and was hired in 1970, although he had no previous knowledge of chemistry. He made a name for himself in the industry with the creation of numerous successful fragrances for various designer brands and rose to the position of chief perfumer (Maître Parfumeur) in the company in 1998. Morillas also operates its own brand under the name Mizensir , under which scented candles have been sold since 1999 and perfumes since 2014.

In 2003 he was awarded the Prix François Coty . In 2013 he received the Fragrance Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award for his life's work .

Morillas is married and has one daughter. He lives in Vandœuvres .
