Alberto Valier

Alberto Valier (* 1561 in Venice ; † September 1, 1630 ) was an Italian clergyman and bishop of Verona .

Life

Alberto Valier, who was also called Bertucci Valier or Alberto Valeri , came from a respected Venetian family. He was one of six children of the Venetian patrician Giovanni Luigi Valier and his wife Laura Bernardo. His great-uncle was Cardinal Bernardo Navagero , his uncle Cardinal Agostino Valier and his brother Cardinal Pietro Valier . With Bertuccio Valier and Silvestro Valier two doges of the 17th century came from the family .

On February 13, 1591 he was appointed titular bishop of Famagusta and coadjutor bishop of his uncle Agostino Valier. He received his episcopal ordination in Brescia from Cardinal Gianfrancesco Morosini , Bishop of Brescia ; Co- consecrators were Gian Giacomo Diedo , Bishop of Crema , and Girolamo Ragazzoni , Bishop of Bergamo . He followed his uncle after his death on May 23, 1606 as Bishop of Verona.

Alberto Valier died in 1630 after 39 years in the episcopate.
