Albina Osipowich
Albina Osipowich van Aiken (born February 26, 1911 in Worcester , Massachusetts , † June 6, 1964 ) was an American swimmer .
At the Summer Olympics in Amsterdam in 1928 , she was Olympic champion in both the 100 m freestyle and the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay . Financially, the Olympic victory paid off for her, as she was enthusiastically received in her hometown of Worcester on her return from the Olympic Games and the residents donated over 4,000 dollars so that she could attend college. In 1986 she was inducted into the international swimming sport hall of fame .
