Fanny Durack
Sarah Frances "Fanny" Durack (born October 27, 1889 in Sydney , † March 21, 1956 there ) was an Australian swimmer .
From 1910 to 1918 she was the best freestyle swimmer in the world from short to long distance and held the world records from 100 yards to 1 mile. Consequently, at the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 , she also became the first female Olympic champion in swimming in the 100 m freestyle . In 1967 she was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
