Albrecht Schnarke (born September 20, 1906 in Berlin ; † June 1, 1987 in Kiel ) was a German naval officer , most recently a sea captain , managing director and entrepreneur .

Imperial Navy

Albrecht Schnarke entered the Imperial Navy on April 1, 1926 as an officer candidate . He completed his midshipman training on the light cruiser Emden , with which he went on a world tour from November 14, 1926 to March 14, 1928. Immediately after the Second World War , Schnarke initially worked as a farm worker on Gut Quarnbek near Kiel, the refuge of his family of six. In September 1945 he found a position as an assistant at the Dr. Ing.Joachim Rathjens, later he became managing director in a branch of the company, in which he worked for 3 ½ years. In the time after the currency reform, he worked for an insurance company and then tried to support the family with his own craft and model workshop. This activity brought him into contact with the company founder and owner Friedrich Karl Peltzer of Wiking Modellbau . In September 1949 he succeeded in joining this company, in which he later became a general agent. He set up a branch factory for this company in Kiel, and then became its operations manager and managing director.

Federal Navy

In February 1956 Albrecht Schnarke returned to the Navy. Due to his skills and wealth of experience in the field of weapon development, he brought himself into the then still young and developing German Navy . After various assignments, he last led the naval weapons command in Kiel as a commander until he was retired as a sea ​​captain in September 1964 .

Poseidon GmbH Kiel

After his retirement, he started working as a freelance employee in the Poseidon GmbH development office in Kiel in October 1964 and in 1968 took over the management as a partner. The company dealt with the armament and equipment of warships as well as the creation of building guidelines and operating instructions for naval crews. Here, too, Schnarke was able to contribute his excellent marine-specific expertise and developed the company into a respected and successful company.

Hobbies

In addition to his professional activity, Schnarke always took the time to compensate. B. shows his interest in economy, politics and history and the construction of model ships , especially warships. A remarkable model ship collection of over 2000 war and merchant ships in various scales from his estate was transferred to the Kiel Maritime Museum after his death and made available to the public in a special department.
