Albuca scabrocostata is a plant of the genus Albuca in the family of asparagaceae (Asparagaceae). The specific epithet scabrocostata is derived from the Latin words scaber for 'rough' and costatus for 'ribbed'.

Albuca scabrocostata is a dwarf geophyte that resembles Albuca unifoliata . However, the individual leaf is not vertical, but crooked upright. Its approximately club-shaped leaf blade is up to 6 inches long and 0.6 inches wide. The top is flat or somewhat runny, the bottom convex. The leaf margins are hyaline . The leaf surface is covered with ribs consisting of rough, protruding, rounded warts.

The inflorescence reaches a length of up to 12 centimeters. The canary yellow tepals of the flowers have dark green central veins.

Systematics and distribution

Albuca scabrocostata is widespread in the South African province of North Cape in the Richtersveld .

The first description as Ornithogalum scabrocostatum by Ute and Dietrich Müller-Doblies was published in 1996. John Charles Manning and Peter Goldblatt put the species in the genus Albuca in 2009 .

A synonym is Coilonox scabrocostatum (U.Müll.-Doblies & D.Müll.-Doblies) Speta (2001).
