Alejandro Quintana
Alejandro Quintana Contreras (* 1951 in Chile ) is a Chilean actor and director .
Life
Alejandro Quintana first studied acting in Santiago de Chile. After the military coup in his country, he emigrated to the GDR in 1973 . In Rostock he founded the theater group Teatro Lautaro with other Chilean exiles . At the People's Theater in Rostock Quintana worked from 1974 to 1981 as an actor and director, and he also was a lecturer at the city's State Drama School. He then went to Berlin, worked as a director at what was then the Theater of Friendship until 1983 and changed to the Berliner Ensemble in the same function . During his 10 years at the Brecht-Bühne, he completed an external course of study at the Berlin Directing Institute.
Further stations in Quintana's theater career were the Staatstheater Cottbus , where he worked as a director from 1993 to 1998, before he held the post of drama director at the Rostock Volkstheater from 1998 to 2000, from where he returned to Cottbus as senior theater director until 2003. From 2003 Quintana worked as a freelance director at theaters in Chemnitz, Rudolstadt, Schwerin and again Rostock. Since September 2008 he has been acting director at the Heilbronn Theater . He also staged guest performances at the Stuttgart theater tri-bühne and at the Württembergische Landesbühne Esslingen .
Occasionally Quintana has also worked for television, for example he directed six episodes of the multi-part ZDF series Karfunkel , which was broadcast between 1991 and 1994. As an actor, he was also in the DEFA -Spielfilm Blonder Tango , and in an episode of crime series Stubbe - From time to time to see. In addition, he took part in some radio play productions for the radio in the GDR .
In September 2008, Quintana was briefly suspected of having been an unofficial employee of the MfS under the code name IM Lautaro from 1978 to 1982 and of having spied on his Chilean compatriots at the theater in Rostock as such. However, these allegations soon proved to be unfounded.
Together with the actress Katrin Steinke , Alejandro Quintana has a son, Luis (* 1988) , who is also an actor .
