Aleksander Chłopek

Aleksander Antoni Chłopek (born December 13, 1946 in Chrzanów ) is a Polish politician , local politician and since 2005 a member of the Sejm in the V. and VI . Electoral term.

He finished his studies of Polish Studies at the Faculty of Polish Philology of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow . He worked as a teacher until his retirement.

In the 1960s he worked in academic pastoral care at the Anna Church in Kraków and was supervised by the communist Służba Bezpieczeństwa (Security Service). From 1978 to 1981 he belonged to the Polska Zjednoczona Partia Robotnicza (Polish United Workers' Party - PZPR), in 1980 he joined the opposition union Solidarność . From 1992 to 1995 he was active in the parties Unia Demokratyczna (Democratic Union - UD) and Unia Wolności (Freedom Union - UW). Since 2001 he has been associated with Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (Law and Justice - PiS).

From 1990 to 1998 and 2002 to 2005 he was a city councilor in Gliwice . In the 2005 parliamentary elections , he was elected to the Sejm with 5366 votes from the list of PiS for the constituency of Gliwice. In the local elections in 2006 he applied unsuccessfully for the post of mayor of Gliwice, he achieved only 26.75% and came in second place. In the parliamentary elections in 2007 he was elected to the Sejm for the second time, this time with 5762 votes. He was a member of the Sejm commissions for the connection with the Polonia abroad as well as for education, science and youth. No longer in the Sejm since November 7, 2011.
