Aleksandr Kuchma (born December 9, 1980 in Taras , Kazakh SSR , also written Aleksandr Kuczma , Russian Александр Кучма ) is a former Kazakh football player who also has German citizenship.
Club career
The then 18-year-old central defender turned pro with his youth club FK Taras in 1998 and moved to Kairat Almaty the following season . For the season 2000 / 2001 Kuchma managed the leap to Germany ; he moved to FC Rastatt 04 , where he stayed until 2002 . During this time he also applied for a German passport with the intention of playing for German national teams. However, he later decided on the Kazakh selection. The Kazakh then played for SG Sonnenhof Großaspach until 2004 , when he switched to the 1. FC Pforzheim club . Since he had never made it to the professional in Germany, he accepted an offer from the Polish second division team Ruch Chorzów after a season in Pforzheim . In order to be closer to the national team, the defender joined the season 2006 / 2007 finally to Astana-64 FK in the Kazakh capital. In 2009 he ran for the Kazakh club Ordabassy Schymkent . After further stations in his home country, he ended his career with FK Taras in 2014.
National team career
"Aleks" played 37 times for his country. The defender was part of the squad for qualifying for the 2006 World Cup and the 2008 European Championship .
