Aleksandra Ivošev

Aleksandra Ivošev (born March 17, 1974 in Novi Sad ) is a former Serbian sports shooter and Olympic champion.

Career

Ivošev began shooting in 1988, and from 1989 she competed. In 1990, starting for Yugoslavia, she took second place at the European Junior Championships in small caliber three-position combat. In 1991 she won gold twice at the Junior European Championships: in the three-position fight and in the prone position.

At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona could Yugoslavia not participate with an official team for the games qualified athletes were allowed to participate in the individual but as Independent Olympic Participants start. In the shooting competitions the Independent Olympians won three medals, the eighteen-year-old Aleksandra Ivošev did not reach the final in the three-position fight as 14th of the qualification. Also in 1994 sport shooters started as independent participants, Ivošev won the title in the three-position fight and silver in the prone position at the Junior World Championships in Milan, plus sixth place with the air rifle .

In 1996, she took third place at the European Championships with the air rifle. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Renata Mauer from Poland won with an air rifle with 497.6 rings, ahead of the German Petra Horneber with 497.4 and Aleksandra Ivošev with 497.2. In the small caliber three-position battle, Ivošev won with 686.1 rings in front of the Russian Irina Gerassimjonok with 680.1 and Renata Mauer with 679.8.

Four years later, Ivošev finished 20th at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney with the air rifle and 22nd place in the three-position fight. In 2001 she was again fifth at the European Championships in the prone position. In 2002 she took seventh place at the World Championships, also in the prone position. Her international career ended in 2003.
