Alessandro Vanotti (born September 16, 1980 in Bergamo ) is an Italian racing cyclist .

Career

Alessandro Vanotti already drove as a trainee for Colpack-Astro in 2002 , but could not recommend himself for a contract. The next year he drove again as a stagiaire, but this time got a professional contract for the following season with De Nardi . In 2005 he started at the Giro d'Italia for Domina Vacanze , where he finished third out of a breakaway group in the 16th stage. In the same year he also took part in the Tour de France for the first time , which he also drove to the end. Vanotti had his first contract with a UCI ProTeam in 2006 with the German-Italian team Milram . He celebrated his first stage win in 2007 at the Settimana Ciclistica Lombarda . He had previously switched to Liquigas at the beginning of the year . Various victories in the team time trial followed in the following years . a. at the Vuelta a España in 2008 and 2013 or at the Giro d'Italia 2010 . In 2013 he moved to the Kazakh team Astana Pro Team . At the 2016 Tour of Austria , he won the mountain prize.
