Alessio Sestu (born September 29, 1983 in Rome ) is an Italian football player . The midfielder is currently under contract with Piacenza Calcio 1919 .

Career

Beginnings

Sestu comes from the youth department of Lazio Rome . He was awarded in 2001 for one year to the lower class club AS Sora , but without coming to any stakes. In 2002 he moved to FC Modena , but remained there without playing time, so that he joined FC Treviso on January 1, 2003 . After another six months without playing, he was loaned to FC Südtirol in 2003 , for which he played 15 games in Serie C2 . After his return he made his Serie B debut at Treviso , but there were no further appearances in the first half of the 2004/05 season , which is why he was awarded to AS Cittadella . For Cittadella, Sestu completed 35 games and scored four goals in one calendar year. In the first half of 2006 Sestu ran on loan for AC Mantova 1911 and completed seven games in Serie B. Sestu was also awarded the following year. For Salernitana Calcio he came on 30 missions and eight hits.

Years in Serie A and B

In 2007 Sestu moved to US Avellino in Serie B. He became a regular player straight away and completed 38 games in the 2007/08 season . In August 2008, he then moved to Reggina Calcio , where he completed 17 games in Serie A in the 2008/09 season and scored one goal. After a year, however, Sestu moved back to Serie B to Vicenza Calcio , but only stayed there in the first half of the 2009/10 season . In January 2010 he moved to AS Bari , for which he completed three games in the second half of the Serie A 2009/10 . In the summer of 2010, Sestu then moved to AC Siena . With Siena he was promoted to Serie A in the 2010/11 season , with Sestu being an integral part of the regular formation. In the following season he came only to a few missions, but was able to keep the class with Siena. In the 2012/13 season this was no longer the case. Sestu was back on the pitch regularly, but Siena had to relegate back to Serie B. Sestu then moved to the first division club Chievo Verona , for whom he completed twelve games in the first half of the 2013/14 season . In the second half of the season he was on loan for Sampdoria Genoa , but only made two appearances. In 2014 there was another loan to the second division side Brescia Calcio , where he became an important part of the team, but was relegated with Brescia. The 2015/16 season was Sestus last in Serie B when he played on loan for Virtus Entella .

Alessandria and Piacenza

Sestu was awarded by Chievo Verona for two years to third division club US Alessandria Calcio in 2016 , where he made a total of 48 league appearances and scored two goals. After his contract with Chievo expired, Sestu moved to Alessandria's league rivals Piacenza Calcio 1919 in 2018 .
