Alexandra Maria "Alex" Maloney (born March 19, 1992 in California , United States ) is a New Zealand sailor .

successes

Alex Maloney took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with Molly Meech in the boat class 49erFX . In the final medal race , the two New Zealanders were one of four boats that made the four top placements among themselves. With a second place Maloney and Meech secured the silver medal behind Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze and ahead of Jena Hansen and Katja Salskov-Iversen . At world championships she became world champion with Molly Meech in Marseille in 2013 and also won the bronze medal with her in Porto in 2017 . In the boat class Optimist , she was third in the 2007 World Championship in Cagliari .

Her father Jim and her brother Andy are also sailors.
