Alex Raack

Alex Raack (* 1983 in Celle ) is a German author and journalist . In his texts and books, the former editor of the soccer magazine 11 Freunde mainly deals with the topic of soccer culture .

Life

Raack grew up in Bostel near Celle, and in 2001 he wrote reports on local sport for the Cellesche Zeitung . After graduating from the Kaiserin-Auguste-Viktoria-Gymnasium in Celle in 2003, Raack studied history, sports and politics in Göttingen and Marburg . In 2009 he began a traineeship at the soccer magazine 11 Freunde and worked there as an editor until 2016. Among other things, he was part of the 11FREUNDE live ticker team, which received the Grimme Online Award in the category of humor in 2013 .

Raack works as a freelance journalist and book author, his texts have been published in Die Zeit and in Tagesspiegel , on Spiegel Online , Vice and in the sports magazines Kicker and Socrates .

Together with the former professional soccer player Uli Borowka , Raack published his biography Volle Pulle - My double life as soccer professional and alcoholic in 2014 at Edel Books , which reached the Spiegel bestseller list . Raack's second book He has to do it! , which appeared in 2015, covers soccer clichés and phrases.

At the beginning of 2018 the book was published by Klett-Cotta Verlag , Wool: A Fan Between East and West , a biography about Wolfgang Großmann, who lived as a fan of Borussia Mönchengladbach in the GDR and became an "enemy of the state" there. Another book about curious stories from soccer fans from different clubs was published in May 2018.

In September 2019 the book I'm actually a great guy , the biography of Mario Basler , was published by Edel Books Verlag.
