Alexander Borissowitsch Savin ( Russian Александр Борисович Савин ; born July 1, 1957 in Taganrog ) is a former Russian volleyball player .

Career

Alexander Sawin made his debut in the CSKA Moscow first team at the age of 16 . With the club he won the Soviet championship 13 times and was European champion champion seven times .

In 1974 he played his first international match for the Soviet Union . He was world champion twice ( 1978 , 1982 ), once vice world champion ( 1986 ) and six times European champion between 1975 and 1985 . In 1976 he won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Montreal . In 1980 he became Olympic champion at the Olympic Games in Moscow .
