Alexander Sergejewitsch Demjanenko ( Russian Александр Сергеевич Демьяненко , scientific transliteration Aleksandr Sergeevič Dem'yanenko ; born May 30, 1937 in Sverdlovsk ; † August 22, 1999 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian-Soviet actor of the RS and folk theater actor .

Life

Alexander Demjanenko was born on May 30, 1937, the son of an actor. His father, Sergei Demjanenko, graduated from the State Institute for Theater Arts (GITIS) and taught acting at the Conservatory. Alexander also developed an interest in acting and, in his youth, played as an amateur actor in the Sverdlovsk Palace of Pioneers. In 1954 he failed the entrance examination at the Moscow Art Theater , but was accepted a year later at the State Institute for Theater Arts in Moscow , where he graduated in 1959.

Demjanenko made his first film appearance in 1958 in the role of Mitja, in the film Weter ( Ветер , German: Wind ) by the directors Alexander Alow and Vladimir Naumow . Demjanenko, Alow and Naumow also work together in the film Mir vchodjaschtschemu ( Мир входящему , German: Peace to the entrance ), which won the special jury prize at the 1961 Venice Film Festival . In the same year Demjanenko played with Adults Children ( Взрослые дети ) and The Clumsy ( Карьера Димы Горина ) in two other Mosfilm productions, through which he gained great fame. Demjanenko left the Mayakovsky Theater in 1961, where he had been working since graduating from GITIS in 1959, and in the same year he moved to Leningrad to work in the Lenfilm film studio . His successful films in Leningrad include The State Criminal ( Государственный преступник ) and Heroes of the Cheka ( Сотрудник ЧК ).

In 1965 Demyanenko played the main role in the comedy Operation "Y" and other adventures Shuriks ( Операция «Ы» и другие приключения Шурика ), directed by Leonid Gaidai . Demjanenko's role as a student Shurik was so popular with the audience that in the following years, Kidnapping in the Caucasus ( Кавказская пленница, или Новые приключения Шурика ) and Ivan Vasilyevich, the director of the Shurie Comedy, Ivan Vasilievich in the role of Shurie Komödsie in the Shurie Comedy, two other roles originated. Both films were very successful. Kidnapping in the Caucasus alone was seen by 76.5 million viewers in the Soviet Union . The success and popularity in the role of Shurik made it difficult for Demyanenko to play other roles. In his other films, he could not build on earlier successes, which also contributed to the fact that Demyanenko at times suffered from alcoholism . Demyanenko now mainly played theater, appeared in television productions and dubbed films. He lent his voice to actors Omar Sharif , Jean-Paul Belmondo , Ugo Tognazzi , Robert De Niro , Steve Buscemi and Jon Voight, among others . In 1991 Demyanenko received the RSFSR People's Artist Award .

In the mid-1990s, the stage director of the St. Petersburg Comedy Theater ( Санкт-Петербургский академический театр комедии им. Н. П. Акимова ) played with Demjanenko. Since Demjanenko was little considered by the new director, he switched to the Prijut Komedianta drama theater ( Приют Комедианта ) where he continued to work successfully as a stage actor. One of his last leading roles played Demyanenko from 1996 to 1997 in the Russian comedy series Klubnitschka ( Клубничка ).

Demjanenko, who had a heart condition, died on August 22, 1999 a few days before a necessary heart operation. He was buried in a grave in the Seraphim Cemetery ( Серафимовское кладбище ) in Saint Petersburg, where his wife now rests.
