Alexander Heisler (born June 21, 1949 in Königsfeld in the Black Forest ) is a German concert organizer , founder of the tent music festival in Freiburg and a doctor .

Life

Heisler comes from a family of country doctors and is a grandson of August Heisler . After graduating from high school in 1969, he studied law , journalism and behavioral research at the University of Munich . In 1970 he began studying medicine at the University of Freiburg . During this time he was also a film assistant for Walter Frentz , Leni Riefenstahl's cameraman . He was also personal assistant to the then IOC Vice-President and President of the Organizing Committee, David Cecil, 6th Marquess of Exeter, at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich .

In 1972, he founded the Audimax Klassik- und Jazzkonzerte Freiburg in Freiburg, before setting up the Zelt-Musik-Festival in 1983, for which Roncalli boss Bernhard Paul lent tents to international stars (including Chuck Berry , Bob Geldof , Chris de Burgh or Ben Harper ) attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors in the following years. He headed the tent music festival until 2006, when only 36,000 visitors came because of the 2006 soccer World Cup , which led to high financial losses and ultimately to the bankruptcy of the sponsoring association. However, the festival continued to take place in the following years and Heisler is still a partner and advisor to the ZMF.

Heisler maintains friendships with numerous artists, most of whom he was also able to welcome at his tent music festival in Freiburg, such as Perry Robinson , Konstantin Wecker , Cab Calloway or Chick Corea .

Heisler has been a general practitioner in Teningen since 1986 .
