Baron Alexander Peter Eduard "Axel" von Buxhoeveden (* July 9 / April 21,  1856 greg. In Arensburg ; † (murdered) February 16, 1919 in Kuiwast on Moon ) was a German-Baltic baron , state politician and country marshal . He was the landowner of Kuiwast, Magnusdahl and Peddast on Moon, Wexholm on Ösel and Heimar in Estonia . He was a legal knight of the Order of St. John .

Life

Origin and family

Alexander Peter Eduard von Buxhoeveden came from the long established noble family of the von Buxhoeveden , whose existence in Estonia has been proven since the 14th century. His family branch came from the " House III. Kuiwast-Murratz ”, his grandfather was Land Marshal Peter Wilhelm von Buxhoeveden (1789–1841). His father was the district administrator and president of the öselschen consistory Arthur Adolf von Buxhoeveden (1821–1874), who was married to Adelheid von Hoyningen-Huene (1827–1907). Alexander Peter married the writer Charlotte von Siemens (1858–1922) in Saint Petersburg in 1884, her descendants were:

  • Margarethe (Daisy) von Buxhoeveden (1885–1962), married to Lothar von Dewitz (1875–1935)
  • Katharina (Kitty) von Buxhoeveden (1887–1938) married to (1.) Gustav von Pahlen (1883–1914), (2.) Oscar von Dewitz (1885–1969)
  • Filicitas (Fairy) von Buxhoeveden (1892–1945), married to (1.) Benjamin von Schilling (1885–1915), (2.) Hans-Georg von Seidel (1891–1955) General der Flieger
  • Marilott Anna von Buxhoeveden (1896–1911)
  • Karl Otto von Buxhoeveden (* 1900)

Career

The cross of the right knights

Alexander Peter v. 1873 B. studied at the University of Tartu Law . Then he went to Saint Petersburg and became an official for special assignments with the Minister of the Interior . From 1891 to 1906 he was Öselscher district administrator and from 1906 to 1919 Öselscher district marshal. In 1906 he was envoy for Ösel to the Baltic Konseil. In 1918 he became a member of the Baltic District Administrator in Riga , then State Councilor and ultimately he was chamberlain and hunter master at the court of the Russian tsar .
