Alexandra Flood (born on 26. February 1990 in Cowes on Phillip Iceland ) is an Australian opera singer of the vocal range soprano .

Life

Flood attended the Methodist Ladies' College in Melbourne and studied at the University of Melbourne from 2007 to 2010 ( BA , Diploma in Music). In 2011 she received the Graduate Diploma of Journalism from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology . From 2014 to 2016 she studied at the University of Music and Theater Munich ( Master in Music Theater).

Flood was a member of the Young Singers Project 's at the Salzburg Festival in 2014 and made her European stage debut there as a blonde in a production for children of Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail and as a milliner in Richard Strauss ' Der Rosenkavalier . Her first leading role was in May 2015 Marguerite in Le petit Faust by Hervé at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich. This was followed in October by the title role in Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen for Pacific Opera, Sydney.

In 2016, Flood became Studio Artist at the Wolf Trap Opera Festival in Fairfax County , Virginia. She sang Violetta in Traviata Remixed at the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam and Serpetta in Mozart's La finta giardiniera at the Lower Saxony Music Days in Hanover in September .

In concerts, Flood sang in Carl Orff's Carmina Burana , Vivaldi's Gloria , Saint-Saëns ' Oratorio de Noël , Handel's Messiah , Haydn's The Seasons , and Vaughan Williams ' Pastoral Symphony . She sang Edna in Jonathan Dove's church opera Tobias and the Angel with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester under the direction of Ulf Schirmer .

Flood has won grants and awards in Australia, Austria and Germany. She lives in Munich. The actress Georgia Flood is her sister, the author Morris West her great-uncle.
