Lower Saxony Music Days

The Lower Saxony Music Days are a four-week music festival that annually in September mostly organizes classical concerts in different locations in Lower Saxony . With 47,000 square kilometers in Lower Saxony, the Musiktage is the largest festival in Germany . From nine events in the founding year 1987 a major event with 60 - 70 concerts per year has developed. The festival is organized by the Niedersächsische Sparkassenstiftung , which finances the Lower Saxony Music Days from a single source in cooperation with local co-organizers and the Lower Saxony savings banks .

Artist

Since the festival began in 1987, over a thousand artists have taken part in the concerts of the Lower Saxony Music Days. These include internationally known soloists such as Alfred Brendel , Alice Sara Ott , Igor Levit , Harriet Krijgh or David Moss , conductors such as Andrew Manze or Frank Strobel , choirs such as the Dresden Chamber Choir , the NDR Choir or the Hannover Girls Choir , ensembles like the 12 cellists of the Berliner Philharmoniker , the Artemis Quartet or the Academy for Early Music and Orchestra such as the NDR Radiophilharmonie , the WDR Funkhausorchester or the Lower Saxony State Orchestra Hanover . Jazz and pop bands such as Thomas Quasthoff & Friends, the Tingvall Trio , the Avishai Cohen Trio , the Marcin Wasilewski Trio , Wallis Bird and China Moses also shape the programs of the Lower Saxony Music Days.

Festival focus

The Lower Saxony Music Days are a themed festival. The theme is developed in advance by the festival management and implemented in parallel to the Lower Saxony Literature Festival . Since 1998 the music days have been turning to associative themes.

vivam.

"Vivam." Is the music education program of the Lower Saxony Music Days. It is aimed at children and young people. By providing teaching material on the festival theme, visiting rehearsals and concerts together, as well as artist talks and workshops, a lively and enjoyable music experience should be conveyed.
