Alexandre Picard (born October 9, 1985 in Les Saules , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract at Dornbirner EC in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League .
Career
Alexandre Picard began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian junior league QMJHL , in which he was active from 2001 to 2005 for the Castors de Sherbrooke and after their relocation for their successor Lewiston MAINEiacs . In the 2003/04 season he was elected to the second All-Star Team of the league and received the trophy Michael Bossy as a player of the QMJHL, who are given the greatest chances for a successful professional career. The winger was then selected in the first round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft as the eighth player of the Columbus Blue Jackets . From 2005 to 2010 he played a total of 67 games for Columbus in the National Hockey League , in which he prepared two goals. For a longer period of time, however, he was never able to assert himself with the Blue Jackets, which is why he spent most of the time with their farm team Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League .
On March 3, 2010 Picard was given in exchange for Chad Kolarik to the Phoenix Coyotes , but played in the following one and a quarter years exclusively for their AHL farm team San Antonio Rampage . In July 2011 he signed a contract as a free agent with the Tampa Bay Lightning from the NHL, but was also used exclusively for their AHL farm team Norfolk Admirals in the 2011/12 season . From the 2012/13 season, he played in the Genève-Servette HC in the National League A .
In the 2015/16 season Picard was no longer used for Servette, took part in the Spengler Cup as a guest player for HC Davos in December and was signed from the beginning of January 2016 until the end of the season. Picard was then under contract with Mountfield HK in the Czech Extraliga , before moving to the Continental Hockey League for Amur Khabarovsk in October 2017 .
In July 2018 he was signed by Kunlun Red Star , but only played four games for the Chinese KHL participant.
