Alexei Sharkevich

Alexei Scharkewitsch ( Russian Алексей Жаркевич ; born March 11, 1979 in Minsk , Belarusian SSR ) is a Russian music producer, remixer and composer. He gained fame mainly through his work under the pseudonym HarDrum .

At the age of 14 Sharkevich began to be interested in electronic music. In 1997 he founded his first band "AXESS DENIED" in Yekaterinburg , with which he performed many appearances in various clubs in the city. In 1998 he came to Moscow , where he began to work as a DJ and remixer under the pseudonym HarDrum.

Sharkevich achieved his musical breakthrough in 2001 when he made two dance remixes to the songs Nas ne dogonjat and 30 minut for the debut album 200 Po Wstretschnoi by the Russian duo tATu . A breakbeat remix to Ja soschla s uma was later also created by Scharkewitsch, who thus mixed all three remixes contained on the album. Sharkevich was the producer of the play Satschem Ja . For his remix of Ja soschla s uma , a remix video was also created from scenes from the original video, which was also broadcast by various Russian music channels such as MTV Russia . For the English version of the song entitled All the Things She Said , Scharkewitsch also made a breakbeat remix. This can be found under the title All the Things She Said (HarDrum Remix) on one of the two maxi singles of the song intended for the European market, which has sold over 500,000 times.

In 2005 Scharkewitsch began working again with his old bandmates. ACESS DENIED has been renamed NewTone. In 2008 the band released the debut album No Copyrights . This is one of the first Russian albums that was only offered as a download and was not released on CD. In the download charts of Russia and the CIS the album reached a high position.

Sharkevich is also active as a producer. He produced Sergei Lasarews Lost Without Your Love as well as Break It All for the singer Valerija. Both songs reached the Russian top 10 in the charts. He also worked as a producer on the album NAWSJEGDA! (Russian НАВСЕГДА!; German Forever! ) by the duo Nitschja . Scharkewitsch is also known as a music composer for feature films and computer games, for example for the browser game "Collapse".
