30 minut (Russian 30 минут ; German “30 minutes”) is a song by the Russian vocal duo tATu from 2001. 30 minut is also known under the title Poltschassa (Russian Полчаса ; German “half hour”). It can be found on tATu's debut album 200 Po Wstretschnoi and is the only ballad on it. 30 minut was released in September 2001. An English version of the song can be found on the duo's English debut album 200 km / h in the Wrong Lane and is called 30 Minutes .

Music video

action

The music video begins with a recording of Julija Wolkova in a school toilet, where she is assembling and setting up a self-made time bomb. After making sure that she is not being watched, she stows the time bomb in Jelena Katina's pocket and leaves. At this point the song begins and Katina is shown for the first time. She stands tightly embraced in the middle of a merry-go-round and kisses a boy, while Volkova watches them both. She stands a little apart, and alternately close-ups of Wolkowas and Katinas are shown, as well as what is happening around the carousel, where many other people are enjoying themselves at a fair. At the end of the video, the time bomb explodes in Katina's backpack, which she was carrying on the carousel. The death of the two girls and the boy is not shown, but is obvious due to the force of the explosion and its expansion.

Emergence

The music video was shot in Russia in August 2001. As in the duo's previous music videos, the director and producer, Ivan Shapovalov, directed it . The carousel featured in the video was inoperative and three men were busy filming all of the footage. A double was originally planned for Katina . Although this had already arrived, Katina decided on site to shoot the kissing scenes herself.

When the music video was to be released as the third single from the album in August 2001, the publication was prevented. The reason for this was the kissing scenes included. Only after the music video was re-cut could it be played in censored form by music channels such as MUZ-TV , MTV Russia and VIVA Polska as well as on the radio at the end of September .

Publication and Success

After their release, the song and music video received a lot of attention in Russia as well as in neighboring countries such as Poland and Ukraine. The music video was played 30 to 35 times a week on the largest Russian radio stations, which was an extremely high value for the time. In total, the song was played 3,500 times on the radio. The accompanying music video also achieved high broadcast rates on the music channels. In Russia it made it to number seven in the charts for 30 minutes .

"30 Minutes"

30 Minutes is the title of the English version of the song. It was recorded in 2002 and can be found on tATu's first English album 200 km / h in the Wrong Lane . This is also the only ballad. Although the music video has not been changed in either version, the lyrics and their meaning are different. In June 2003, 30 Minutes was released as a promo single, including in the UK . The song reached number 15 in the Russian charts and number 34 in the national hit parade in Romania .
