Alexia (born: Alessia Aquilani , * 19th May 1967 in La Spezia ) is an Italian Euro Dance - singer who has been successful for the 1996th Her biggest international hit was Uh La La La in 1997 .

life and career

At the age of four, Alessia Aquilani took part in various local music and dance competitions and was nicknamed Little Wonder . At the age of seven she received piano and singing lessons in school. Her preferred style of music at that time was rhythm and blues , she especially liked the songs of Aretha Franklin . When she was twelve, she took dance training and gained experience in front of a live audience. After finishing school she sang in various bands and appeared in discos .

Aquilani's professional career began in 1989 with the Euroenergy label , which is part of Discomagic. She released a few singles under the names Alexia Cooper and Lita Beck . During this time he began to work with Roberto Zanetti, also known as Robyx , and for his label DWA (Dance World Attack). Zanetti's sister Viviana had heard Aquilani performing at one of her discos and made contact.

Aquilani sang the background for Please Don't Go by Double You , a European top 10 hit in 1992. In the following two years she worked for DiGiLove, Cybernetica, Wegen, Galactica and Fourteen 14 and as a singer for Ice MC , whose Title Think About the Way became part of the soundtrack for the British drama Trainspotting in 1996 . Ice MC went with her to Europe Club - Tour .

In the summer of 1995 Aquilani released the first single as Alexia , Me & You , which topped the charts in their homeland . This was followed by hits like Summer Is Crazy , Number One (both number one in Italy) and Uh La La La , which were also on their debut album Fan Club , which was released in mid-1997 . The second album, The Party , including the singles Gimme Love , The Music I Like and Keep on Movin ' , was released a year later by Sony Music . 500,000 of them were sold.

The last joint project with Robyx was the album Happy (1999), which was successful in Italy and Asia . After releasing a greatest hits CD in the summer of 2000, she also tried other styles of music. The result was the long player Mad for Music , which was released in Italy in 2001. At the Sanremo Festival 2002 Alexia came second with Dimmi come ... , at the Sanremo Festival 2003 she won with Per dire di no . Various publications followed by 2009, mainly in Italian .
