Alf Bloomcher (1896)

Alf Bloomcher (born February 7, 1880 in Lardal , Norway , † March 5, 1959 in Oslo , Norway) was a Norwegian actor in German silent films.

Life

The early years at the theater

From its beginnings in 1904/05, blossomcher began his career at the theater in Bergen and then appeared in the local provinces: in Trondheim , Stavanger and on the Den national scene again in Bergen. One of his best known stage roles was Peer Gynt in the Ibsen play of the same name .

Roles in the Danish silent film

Finally, Bloomcher moved to Denmark, where he became a busy film actor from 1913. He played medium-sized and leading roles, with Mephisto , the eponymous "mysterious stranger" in the Forest-Holger-Madsen film of the same name , in 1914 for the first time an outstanding leading role . He was best known for his portrayal of Arno von Dotzky, the first husband of Martha, who was at the center of the action, in the highly topical film adaptation of Bertha von Suttner's novel The Guns Down at the time of shooting (shortly after the beginning of the First World War) . . Another important role was the Dr. Krafft in The Sky Ship , another production of The Arms Down! -Director Holger-Madsen.

In addition to Holger-Madsen, Robert Dinesen Blütechers was the most important director, but he was also seen several times in productions by the Danes AW Sandberg and August Blom . Blütechers roles ranged from the actors Poul Walter and Jules Petit in Dinesens En skæbne and I farens stund , to the detective Tom Atkins in Juvelerernes skræk and the police chief Sylvester Jackson in Manden med de ni fingre II (1915) to the office manager Halling in Alfred Cohns Brandmandens datter , the chamberlain Fasting in For sin faders skyld , Colonel Lord Emmerich Douglas in Tempeldanserindens elskov and the astronomer Professor Elvin Ross in I stjernerne står det skrevet (also 1915).

But he also played engineers, botanists, plantation workers and, time and again, doctors. Until shortly after the end of the First World War, Alf Bloomcher was seen in an abundance of Danish productions - mostly dramatic and melodramatic stories - the Nordisk Film .

Career in Germany

Finally, in the fall of 1919, like numerous colleagues in Copenhagen, Bloomcher accepted a call to Germany to take on the leading role in Fritz Bernhardt's Darwin film in Hamburg . The following year, after another film in the Hanseatic city ( The Public Prosecutor ), Bloomcher went to Berlin via Munich ( Das Rätsel im Menschen ) . There he worked again and again with directing colleagues from the Danish adopted home: With Urban Gad on Die Insel der Verschollenen , with Svend Gade on The Secret of Brinkenhof (as partner of Henny Porten ) and again with Holger-Madsen, this time on Zaida, the tragedy of a model . Bloomcher returned to filming in Copenhagen ( En nat i København ), Hamburg ( The Last Mask ) and Munich ( The Queen's Favorite ). Most recently, the Norwegian only got supporting roles.

An accident, as a result of which he had to struggle with persistent hearing impairment, ended Blütecher's film career abruptly. He then returned to his homeland in Norway, settled in Oslo, where he finally worked at the local post office.
