Alfons Gerling
Alfons Gerling (born August 14, 1944 in Lindschied , Bad Schwalbach ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was a member of the Hessian state parliament .
Life
After completing primary school in 1959, an apprenticeship as a retail salesman took place. Subsequently, Gerling performed his military service in the years 1964–1965 with the Federal Border Guard . From 1966 he worked as a commercial clerk.
Alfons Gerling is Catholic, married and has two sons. He has lived in Frankfurt-Zeilsheim since 1944 .

From 1972 to 1989 Gerling was a city councilor in Frankfurt am Main and from 1985 to 1989 a member of the association assembly of the State Welfare Association of Hesse .
From 1987 to 2014 was Gerling member of the Hessian State Parliament, elected for the constituency Frankfurt I . There he was among others:
- Member of the Social Policy Committee, Deputy Chairman from 2003 to 2008
- Member of the prison subcommittee, chairman from 1999 to 2008 and deputy chairman from 2009 to 2014
- Member of the Legal Committee
- Member of the Council of Elders
In September 2012 Gerling announced that he would not run again for the state parliament mandate in the state elections on September 22, 2013. His successor as a direct candidate in the constituency is Uwe Serke .
Alfons Gerling was a member of the Federal Assembly in 1999, 2004, 2009, 2010 and 2012 .
Other offices
Gerling is a member and board member of many associations. From 1971 to 2005 he was chairman of the club ring Zeilsheim and in 2005 was appointed honorary chairman of the club ring. Another focus of his work is his involvement in the Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Catholic Synodal Council in Frankfurt from 1972 to 1980. Further functions are / were:
- 1996 to 2016 member of the supervisory board of Volksbank Höchst am Main eG
- Member of the advisory board (since 1998) and state board member (since 2011) in the Volksbund Deutscher Kriegsgräberfürsorge Hessen
- 1999 to 2015 State Board Member in the VDK State Association Hesse-Thuringia (since 1999)
