Alfons Hayduk

Alfons Hayduk (born November 18, 1900 in Opole ; † July 15, 1972 in Erlangen ) was a German teacher and author.

Life

Hayduk studied literature, philosophy and economics at the University of Wroclaw . He also trained as a feature editor and dramaturge. Hayduk earned his living as a teacher, but was active as a writer from a young age.

His first volumes of poetry ( The Holy Face ; The Royal Beggar ) appeared in the 1920s, as did fairy tale games and folk plays. In 1927 his first novel, The Brandy Brothers , was published. Hayduk dealt intensively with Eichendorff's life and work. This resulted in a series of Eichendorff adaptations, the novella Strom des Schicksals deserves special mention . Hayduk was tied to his homeland and promoted understanding and cooperation with the Polish population.

During the time of National Socialism , Hayduk was the head of the Reichsschrifttumskammer in the " Gau Oberschlesien ". After the start of World War II and the occupation of Poland in 1939, he wrote more than 50 articles for the Nazi struggle sheet of the General Government , the Krakauer Zeitung .

After the Second World War, his writings Annabergwacht (1938) and Annaberg-Saga (1944) in the Soviet occupation zone as well as Contested Earth (1941) and Der Ritt an die Weichsel (1944) in the German Democratic Republic were placed on the list of literature to be excluded.

Hayduk became a senior teacher in Ansbach. He continued to be literary active. In addition to his own publications such as "Silesian miniatures", "Heaven of Heiterkeit", "Schelmengraf Gashin ", "The golden cord goes around the house", he was the editor of various publications such as the Silesia series , the standard work "Great Silesians" and the "House Book." of Silesian Humor ”, the“ People's Calendar of Silesians ”, the“ Arberger Sagenspiegel ”and the“ Silesian Culture Mirror ”. In addition, in his last years he was the director of the Silesian Cultural Association and editor of the magazine “Schlesien”. He also discussed a record Mein Schlesien (Bertelsmann).

Alfons Hayduk died unexpectedly in 1972 after a serious operation.
