Alfred Jensen (partly listed as Alfred Serenius Jensen , born November 16, 1859 in Randers , Denmark, † June 29, 1935 in Hamburg ) was a Danish - German marine painter .

Life

Alfred Jensen went to sea at the age of 14 and went on study trips to Africa , Australia and China, among others . From 1884 to 1885 he studied with Heinrich Leitner in Hamburg. Then he went back to sea. In 1897 he continued his studies, this time at the Academy in Kassel with Emil Neumann . Then he lived in Hamburg and worked as a professor at the local arts and crafts school .

Jensen is known as a marine painter whose works, including ship portraits , can be found in museums in Hamburg ( Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte , Altonaer Museum ), Bremerhaven , Kiel , Tronse and in private collections.

Awards

  • In 1896 he received the honorary diploma in Kiel
  • 1901 in Lyon the gold medal
