Alfred Müller (forest scientist)
Alfred Johannes Albin Müller (born July 17, 1874 in Leipzig ; † November 1, 1955 in Tharandt ) was a German forest scientist and university professor .
Life
Alfred Müller passed the Abitur at Nikolai-Gymnasium in his hometown Leipzig in 1894 . After military service , he turned the following year to study forestry at the Royal Saxon Forest Academy in Tharandt ; In 1898 he passed the forest trainee examination, in 1901 he passed the state examination for the higher forest service. After working as a forestry eleve in the state forest districts of Hirschberg / Vogtland and Zwenkau in 1894, Alfred Müller, after passing the forest trainee examination, held forest trainee positions in Reitzenhain , then in Hohnstein , most recently in Tharandt. After successfully passing the state examination for the higher forest service, Alfred Müller was appointed forester at the Princely Schönburger Forest Inspectorate in Waldenburg ; In 1905 he moved to Koblenz as a forest inspector , and in the following year he took on a position as an assistant officer in the Johanngeorgenstadt forestry office .
In 1909, Alfred Müller changed to the position of forestry expert at Hülsberg & Co in Charlottenburg ; At the same time, he began studying meteorology and defense and river engineering at the TH Berlin-Charlottenburg . In 1912 he switched back to the Saxon forest service; He was assigned to the Kottenheide Forestry Office in the role of an auxiliary officer. After Alfred Müller had served as a soldier in World War I , he was given a position as a district forester in the Erlbach / Erzgebirge state forest district in 1919 . In 1947 he accepted the call as a lecturer and non-scheduled professor for forest use with a teaching position at the Faculty of Forestry at the TH Dresden ; a year later he was promoted to full professor and director of the Institute for Forest Use, in 1951 he resigned from these functions. Most recently, he held a teaching position there until 1955. Alfred Müller, one of the leading forest scientists in Germany of his time, died at the age of 81 in Tharandt at the beginning of November 1955.
