Alfred Schulz (born December 23, 1928 in Altona ; † July 25, 2011 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Hamburg-Altona in 1948, Schulz completed a teaching degree in history and German at the University of Hamburg . In 1954 he started teaching in the state of Schleswig-Holstein and last taught at the Otto Hahn Gymnasium (Geesthacht) .

Alfred Schulz was married and has three children.

Schulz joined the SPD in 1952. From 1968 to 1980 he was chairman of the SPD district association Stormarn and was a member of the SPD state executive committee of Schleswig-Holstein from 1969 to 1973.

From 1966 to 1978 Schulz was a member of the city council of Reinbek , where he was mayor from 1970 to 1974 . In addition, from 1966 to 1971 he was a member of the district council of the Stormarn district. From 1971 to 1992 Schulz was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament . There he was chairman of the committee for culture, youth and sport from 1980 to 1988. In the constituent session of the 11th Schleswig-Holstein state parliament on October 2, 1987, he was proposed by the SPD parliamentary group for the office of vice-president of the state parliament, but failed to achieve a majority in two ballots. In 1988 Schulz was elected second vice-president of the state parliament (until 1994).
