Alfred Wilke (trade unionist)

Alfred Wilke (born March 23, 1921 in Werder (Havel) ; † February 8, 1997 in Berlin ) was a German trade unionist . He was chairman of the central board of the trade union teaching and education in the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB) as well as a member of the administrative commission of the International Federation of Teachers' Unions in the World Trade Union Confederation (WGB).

Life

Wilke, the son of an accountant , attended the elementary and middle school . Between 1937 and 1940 he trained as a metal aircraft builder. From 1940 to 1945 he was employed as a fitter at the Henschel aircraft factory in Berlin-Schönefeld , and at times he was deployed abroad. In 1942/43 Wilke attended Arthur Werner's technical evening school in Berlin.

In 1945 he was a school helper in Werder and joined the SPD . In 1946 Wilke completed a course for new teachers at the Wiesenburg / Mark Pedagogical Institute . He joined the FDGB and became a member of the SED . In 1946/47 he was head of culture in Werder. Between 1946 and 1949 he was a new teacher and most recently director of the primary and vocational school in Werder. From 1946 to 1949 he was a member and chairman of the Werder district council and from 1948 to 1949 a member of the SED local leadership.

From 1949 to 1952 he acted as state chairman of Brandenburg , 1952/53 as district chairman of the Potsdam union for teaching and education. From 1953 to 1955 he studied at the party college "Karl Marx" of the SED. He completed his studies as a social scientist. From 1954 to 1972 Wilke was a member of the FDGB federal executive board and from 1961 to 1972 also a member of its executive committee. From 1955 to 1972 was a member and chairman of the Central Committee of the Education and Training Union. From 1955 to 1964 he was a member of the administrative commission of the International Federation of Teachers' Unions ( Fédération Internationale Syndicale de l'Enseignement , FISE) in the WGB.

From 1957 to 1972 Wilke was a member of the Central Committee for Youth Consecration in the GDR and from 1958 to 1963 a member of the school commission at the Politburo of the Central Committee of the SED and the State Commission for the Design of the Unified Socialist Education System at the GDR Council of Ministers .

From 1963 to 1975 Wilke was a member of the World Peace Council , from 1965 to 1972 Vice President of the Peace Council of the GDR and from 1971 to 1974 Secretary of the GDR at the World Peace Council in Helsinki . From 1966 to 1971 he was also a member of the URANIA Presidium .

From 1974 to 1986 Wilke was a member, deputy chairman and chairman of the Central Revision Commission of the FDGB. In 1986 he retired.
