Life

Alfred was the eldest son of Count Adam Albert von Neipperg (1775–1829) from his first marriage to Countess Theresia Pola de Treviso (1778–1815). After the death of his father he was at the head of the Neipperg family and received in 1831 in the style of the old feudal system together with his brothers Ferdinand (1809-1843), Gustav (1811-1850) and Erwin von Neipperg (1813-1897) from Württemberg King Wilhelm I awarded the village of Schwaigern with accessories, Neipperg Castle , hunting grounds in Kleingartach , Bönnigheim and Erligheim as well as goods in Schwaigern and Wald bei Neipperg . In 1833 he and his brothers concluded a family entrepre- neurship over succession, which awarded the entire property to the first-born son and regulated the succession in the event that a line expired. Like their father, he and his brothers were in Austrian military service. In 1834 Alfred von Neipperg became Rittmeister and Commander in the 9th Hussar Regiment as well as treasurer of Emperor Franz I. On October 18, 1835, he married his first wife, Countess Josefina Grisoni († November 17, 1837), after her untimely death he married on 19 March 1840 Princess Marie of Württemberg (1816–1887), the daughter of King Wilhelm I, whereupon he transferred to the Württemberg military and became major general there. As early as 1838 he began to relieve the community from feudal burdens. His wife was benevolent and made possible a renovation of the Schwaigern town church with a large donation . In 1843 he acquired the manor at Stocksberg Castle near Stockheim , and in 1846 the lower gate mill in Schwaigern, from which Schwaigern Castle would in future be supplied with spring water, with which Alfred von Neipperg was able to grow tropical plants in greenhouses in the castle park.

From 1836 Count Alfred had a hereditary mandate in the Württemberg Chamber of Notaries . In 1848 he was a member of the preliminary parliament . After the brothers Ferdinand and Gustav died at an early age and the childless Alfred fell ill in the 1850s, the younger brother Erwin, who succeeded him in the line of succession, ran the business of the count's house in some cases during his lifetime . Alfred von Neipperg is buried in the family crypt of the Counts von Neipperg in the cemetery in Massenbachhausen .

In 1840 Alfred von Neipperg was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown .
