Algirdas Stončaitis

Algirdas Stončaitis (born 1962 in Plateliai , Plungė district , Lithuanian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Lithuanian civil servant. Since January 3rd, 2018 he has been head of the Government Chancellery of the Republic of Lithuania .

Life

After graduating from the Plateliai Middle School near Plungė in 1980 , he graduated from the Minsk Militia College of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic in the USSR in 1987 . From 1987 to 1990 worked in the criminal search department and from 1990 to 1991 in the criminal police department at the Ministry of Interior of Lithuania . From 1991 to 1992 he was an officer in the Criminal Police Department at Policijos departamentas in Vilnius . From 1994 to 1995 he headed an inspection at Pasienio policijos departamentas (PPD). From 1995 to 1997 he was a road police commissioner . From 1997 to 2001 he was the first deputy of the chief police commissioner and chief of staff in border protection at the PPD. In 2001 he was Chief Commissioner at Policijos departamentas and Deputy Police Commissioner General as well as consultant. From 2008 to 2015 he was Deputy Police Commissioner General. From 2015 to 2018 he worked as Chancellor at the Ministry of Interior of Lithuania. Since January 2018 he has been the Lithuanian government chancellor under the leadership of Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis .

Stončaitis is married and has two daughters with his wife Audronė.
