Alicia Holzken (born December 13, 1996 in Eindhoven , the Netherlands ) is a Dutch professional boxer and WIBF flyweight world champion since July 2019 .
Amateur career
Alicia Holzken started boxing in her homeland, the Netherlands, at the age of nine. When her father saw, after initial skepticism, how much passion she boxed, he began to train her. She quickly made it into the Dutch national team. In 2011, at the age of 14, Holzken won the bronze medal at the World Youth Championships in Turkey. In 2012 she also boxed bronze at the European Youth Championships in Poland.
In the years that followed, Alicia Holzken confirmed her achievements both nationally and internationally. She won gold at the European Union Youth Championships in Hungary in 2013 and again bronze at the 2014 European Youth Championships in Italy. In 2015 and 2017 she also became Dutch champion.
Professional career
Following her amateur career, Alicia Holzken briefly became a professional kickboxer. There she became world champion in her first year in 2018. Then she returned to classic boxing. Holzken made her debut as a professional boxer on December 1, 2018 in Gummersbach at a boxing gala organized by the German promoter Sauerland Event . She defeated her opponent Gabriella Mezei unanimously on points.
On April 7, 2019, Alicia Holzken boxed for a title for the first time in her fourth professional fight. At the Golden Palace in Frechen , she defeated Claudia Ferenczi unanimously on points and secured the Intercontinental title of the Women's International Boxing Federation (WIBF). On July 4, 2019, she got the chance to win the world title in her fifth professional fight according to the WIBF version. Holzken won against Xenia Jorneac from Romania unanimously on points in Aabenraa, Denmark and was crowned world champion.
Since January 2020, Alicia Holzken has been managed by the Berlin sports management and marketing agency O1NE Sport GmbH, which advises, among others, WBO International Champion Artur Mann , IBF European Champion Denis Radovan and 2016 Olympic participant Serge Michel .
