Alidad Saveh Shemshaki ( Persian عليداد ساوهشمشكي; * July 23, 1972 in Tehran ) is an Iranian ski racer and grass skier . In alpine skiing, he took part in the 2006 Olympic Games and the 2009 World Championships . In grass skiing he has competed in three world championships so far and achieved a podium in the World Cup .
Career
Saveh Shemshaki started in 1995 in FIS races in alpine skiing. He mainly took part in competitions in Iran and Turkey as well as in East Asia (South Korea, Japan and China) and achieved nine podium positions by 2005. In 1996 and 2001 he also competed in FIS races in Italy, but was only able to classify among the last three. In February 2006, Saveh Shemshaki took part alongside cross-country skier Seyed Mojtaba Mirhashemi as one of two athletes from Iran at the Winter Olympics in Turin . With a gap of less than 30 seconds each, he reached 36th place in the giant slalom and 41st place in the slalom. Five weeks after the Olympics, the Iranian won his first FIS race, the Shemschak slalom . In the next three years he was able to win another five FIS races and in 2007 he became Iranian champion in slalom. Saveh Shemshaki's next major event was the 2009 World Ski Championships in Val-d'Isère . As a non-seeded runner, he had to take part in the qualifying races. In the slalom he finished 45th, but only the best 25 were allowed to compete in the slalom final competition in addition to the 50 fixed starters. In the giant slalom qualification, he was disqualified in the first round. Until the end of the 2009/2010 season, Saveh Shemshaki then took part in FIS races, but without achieving further victories.
Since 2004 Saveh Shemshaki has also participated in grass ski races. His first major event was the 2005 Grass Ski World Championship in Dizin, Iran . Here he was among the fastest 17 in all competitions, and the best result was 14th place in the combination. In 2006 he won two FIS races in Iran and in July 2007 he took part in World Cup races for the first time in Dizin . He reached third place in the giant slalom and seventh in the Super-G, albeit in the absence of some top runners. At the end of the 2007 World Cup season he also took part in the races in Rettenbach , Austria , and finished 14th in the giant slalom, but did not finish in the super combined. In the overall World Cup he came in 40th place. At the 2007 World Championships in Olešnice v Orlických horách , Czech Republic , his best result was 22nd place in the slalom. In the 2008 season , the Iranian took part in the World Cup races in Dizin and Forni di Sopra in Italy. In Dizin he reached fifth place in the giant slalom at the same time as the Austrian Jakob Rest and in Forni di Sopra he was twelfth in the giant slalom and in the super combination, placing him 42nd in the overall ranking. In the 2009 season , Saveh Shemshaki started after a second place in the FIS slalom of Dizin again in the World Cup races in Iran and reached eighth place in the giant slalom and ninth place in the Super-G. At the end of August, shortly before the World Cup, he also took part in the World Cup races in Maria Gugging in Austria, where he finished 14th in the giant slalom, but was disqualified in the slalom. In the overall World Cup he was able to improve to 21st place. At the grass ski world championship in Rettenbach in September 2009, 19th place in the super combination was his best result. In the 2010 season he took part in the competitions in Dizin and the World Cup finals in Italy. In the World Cup races his best results were two eleventh places in the giant slalom and in the Super-G in Dizin, in the overall World Cup he was 28th. In the 2011 season, Saveh Shemshaki only took part in the FIS races in Dizin, where he made two podiums drove. Also in the 2012 season, he only started in the FIS races in Dizin, while he did not compete in the World Cup races. He finished two fifth and one sixth place.
