Jakob Rest (born January 23, 1991 ) is an Austrian grass skier . He is a member of the A-team of the Austrian Ski Association , is a four-time junior world champion , was runner-up in slalom world champion in 2011 and has made two podiums in the World Cup so far.

Jakob Rest contested his first FIS races in May 2006. In July he took part in the Junior World Championship in Horní Lhota u Ostravy in the Czech Republic , finishing ninth in the slalom and giant slalom, as well as eleventh in the combination and 20th in the super G. On August 19th, Rest drove his first World Cup race . In the giant slalom in České Petrovice he finished 28th rank, the next day he came in slalom already in 14th place at the World Cup finals in Forni di Sopra he went three more times in the top 20, which he in the overall standings of the 2006 season, the 23 Reached place. At the beginning of the 2007 World Cup season , Rest achieved his first top 10 placements. In Dizin he was ninth in the giant slalom and eighth in the Super-G. On July 6, 2008, the then 17-year-old made it onto the podium for the first time in a World Cup race. In the overall ranking of the 2008 season he reached sixth place with another five top 10 results. At the Junior World Championships in 2008 Rest won the bronze medal in slalom. In the giant slalom he only missed a second medal by three hundredths of a second. In the 2009 World Cup season , Rest reached his second podium with second place in Maria Gugging's slalom on August 30th. Overall, he was eight times among the top ten, which he finished seventh in the overall standings. At the 2009 Junior World Championship , Rest won his first title. He won the slalom ahead of the Czech Jan Gardavský and the Slovak Timotej Oravec , although he had a serious fall during giant slalom training the day before. In the super combined he won the bronze medal and in the super G he was fourth. At the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach, Rest was among the fastest 17 in all competitions, his best results were fifth in slalom and tenth in super combined.

In April 2010 Jakob Rest broke his hand, which is why he was only able to take part in the race from July. At the beginning of August he won the giant slalom and the super combined at the junior world championships in Dizin and was fifth in the super G; only in the slalom did he not finish. In the World Cup he lagged behind the results of the last two years. In Dizin he achieved his best result of the season with sixth place in the giant slalom, after which he was twice in the top ten and was 16th in the overall World Cup. In the 2011 World Cup season , Rest drove into the top 10 four times, making him eleventh in the overall World Cup. His greatest success so far was at the 2011 World Championships in Goldingen , when he won the silver medal in slalom, eleven hundredths of a second behind the Swiss Domenic Senn . He was also twelfth in the Super-G. He was also successful in the Junior World Championship, which was held at the same time . He won the giant slalom ahead of the Czech Lukáš Kolouch and thus his fourth junior world championship title and was second behind Kolouch in the Super-G. At national level he won his first national title in 2011 in slalom. In the 2012 season , Rest only took part in the two World Cup slaloms in Trieste , where he finished ninth and eighth.
