Timotej Oravec (born August 12, 1991 ) is a former Slovak grass skier . He started in the World Cup from 2007 to 2010 and was junior world champion in slalom in 2010 .

Career

Oravec drove his first international races at the Junior World Championship in Welschnofen at the beginning of August 2007. He came in the top 20 in all competitions, his best result was tenth place in the super combined. On August 11 of the same year he competed in his first world cup race , the giant slalom of Čenkovice , but could not qualify for the second run. The next day he finished 30th in slalom and thus won his first World Cup point. In September he drove in the World Cup races in Forni di Sopra both times under the top 20, with which he finished 56th in the overall ranking of the 2007 season, tied with Italian Nicolò Agostini . At the 2007 World Championships in Olešnice v Orlických horách , Czech Republic , he reached the finish line in all races, but only finished in the bottom field. His best result was 24th place in the slalom, out of 26 runners.

In the 2008 World Cup season , Oravec reached two tenth places in the Čenkovice slalom and the Dizin giant slalom . With a further six top 20 results, he finished 15th in the overall World Cup. At the Junior World Championships in 2008 he was among the top ten three times. He was seventh in slalom, ninth in giant slalom and super-G, and eleventh in super combined. A year later he won the bronze medal in slalom at the 2009 Junior World Championships in Horní Lhota u Ostravy . He was fourth in the giant slalom and fourth in the super combined, in the super-G he was twelfth. At the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach , his best results were twelfth place in slalom and thirteenth place in super combined. In the 2009 World Cup season , Oravec reached ninth place in the super combination of Wilhelmsburg and three tenth places in the slalom of Čenkovice and Maria Gugging as well as in the giant slalom of Dizin, with which he finished 18th overall.

At the beginning of the 2010 season Oravec achieved his best World Cup result with seventh place in the slalom of Čenkovice. A month later he won the gold medal in slalom and silver in giant slalom and super-G at the junior world championships in Dizin . He only failed in the super combination. Overall, he achieved five top 10 results in the 2010 World Cup season and was also among the top ten in nine FIS races. With that he reached tenth place in the overall World Cup, which was his best overall result. After 2010 Oravec did not participate in any competitions.

In addition to grass skiing , Oravec also took part in competitions in alpine skiing . In FIS races he made it into the top ten several times and made it onto the podium twice.
