Alireza Beiranvand (born September 21, 1992 in Khorramabad ) is an Iranian football goalkeeper . He is under contract with the Belgian club Royal Antwerp .
Career
youth
Beiranvand grew up in a nomadic family and is a member of the Kurdish ethnic group Lak . He spent his childhood in the Iranian province of Lorestan . When his family settled near Khorramabad, he began playing football, first as a striker and finally as a goalkeeper due to an injury to his team's goalkeeper. But his father forbade him to play football and Beiranvand was forced to make his way to Tehran penniless in order to pursue his passion there. He came to Naft Tehran at the age of 16 and went through the youth teams.
Professional career
In 2011 Beiranvand moved up to the professional squad of Naft and made his debut in the national team in 2015 . In summer 2016, he moved to Persepolis Tehran for 800,000 euros . At the end of July 2020, he switched to the Belgian first division Royal Antwerp , where he signed a contract with a term of three years.
At the 2018 World Cup he was the goalkeeper of the Iranians and played in all three group games. In the last group game against Portugal , he fended off a penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo ; the Iranian team was eliminated from the tournament as third in the group.
