Faris Haroun (born September 22, 1985 in Brussels ) is a Belgian football player . He has been under contract with Royal Antwerp since January 1st, 2017 .

Faris Haroun began his career as a youth player with smaller clubs in and around Brussels. Finally, in 2003, he moved to the youth department of KRC Genk , where his professional career began a short time later. In 2008 he moved to Germinal Beerschot . With his performances there he drew the attention of the then second division club Middlesbrough FC . He played there until January 2014 and then moved to Blackpool FC . But he wasn't happy in Blackpool, his contract expired in June. After a few months without a club, he finally joined Cercle Bruges in November . In January 2017, he moved to Royal Antwerp for a transfer fee of around 300,000 euros and received a contract until 2021.

National team

In total, Haroun played six international matches for the Belgian national football team and had 22 appearances for the U-21s . With the U-21s he took part in the 2007 European Championship and reached the semi-finals, previously he had played in 2004 with the U-19s in the finals of the U-19 European Championship . With the Olympic selection, he took part in the 2008 Olympic Games and reached 4th place after the game for 3rd place against Brazil was lost 3-0.

His younger brother Nadjim (born June 10, 1988) was also occasionally a professional footballer (including KVK Tienen , Beerschot AC ) and internationally active for the national team of Chad (4 senior internationals / 1 goal).
