description
Vegetative characteristics
Aloe debrana grows singly or sprouts and then forms small groups, is stemless or short-stemmed. The approximately 24 or more lanceolate long, pointed leaves form dense rosettes . The cloudy green leaf blade is 25 to 60 inches long and 7.5 to 15 inches wide. The piercing, reddish brown teeth on the reddish brown, horny leaf margin are 2 to 4 millimeters long and 0.8 to 15 millimeters apart. The leaf juice is brownish dry.
Inflorescences and flowers
The inflorescence consists of eight to twelve branches and is 100 centimeters long. The lower branches are occasionally branched again. The dense, almost capped grapes are 5 to 10 inches long and 6 to 7 inches wide. The ovoid-triangular bracts have a length of 3 to 5 millimeters and are 1.5 to 2 millimeters wide. The scarlet red flowers , lighter at their mouth, are on 10 to 15 millimeter long pedicels . The flowers are 17 to 20 millimeters (rarely up to 35 millimeters) long and very short at their base. At the level of the ovary , they have a diameter of 8 millimeters. They are slightly narrowed above this and finally widened towards their mouth. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of about 6 millimeters. The stamens and the stylus barely protrude from the flower.
Systematics and distribution
Aloe debrana is widespread in Ethiopia in grasslands and low shrubbery on gently sloping slopes at altitudes of 2400 to 2700 meters.
The first description by Hugh Basil Christian was published in 1947. A synonym is Aloe berhana Reynolds (1957).
