description

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe harlana grows stemless or short stem-forming, is single or divides into two to four rosettes . The approximately 24 lanceolate, narrowed leaves form dense rosettes. Their light to dark olive-green, sometimes shiny leaf blades are 50 centimeters long and 12 to 15 centimeters wide. On the underside of the leaf there are occasionally a few cloudy, elongated, light green spots near the base. The stinging, reddish-brown teeth on the usually horny, reddish-brown leaf margin are 3 to 4 millimeters long and 10 to 15 millimeters apart. The leaf sap is dry, deep brown.

Inflorescences and flowers

The inflorescence consists of six to eight branches and is about 70 to 90 centimeters long. The conical-headed or cylindrically-narrowed grapes are up to 20 centimeters long. The ovoid-pointed bracts are 10 millimeters long and 5 to 7 millimeters wide. In the bud stage they are densely arranged in a brick shape. The deep red, occasionally yellow flowers are on 15 millimeter long peduncles . They are 33 millimeters long and narrowed briefly at their base. At the level of the ovary , the flowers have a diameter of 11 millimeters. They are not narrowed beyond that. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of 10 millimeters. The stamens and the pen stand out 3 to 5 millimeters from the flower.
