Aloe megalocarpa is a species of the genus Aloes in the subfamily of the Affodilla plants (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet megalocarpa is derived from the Greek words megale for 'large' and karpos for 'fruit' and refers to the large fruits.

Vegetative characteristics
Aloe megalocarpa grows without a trunk and individually. The approximately 25 leaves form a spread rosette . The dark green, glossy leaf blade is up to 55 inches long and 2.5 to 3.5 inches wide. The whitish, brown-pointed teeth on the leaf margin are 2 millimeters long and 5 to 15 millimeters apart.
Inflorescences and flowers
The simple inflorescence reaches a length of up to 30 centimeters. The cylindrical grapes are loose and consist of about 15 flowers. The egg-shaped bracts are 2 to 4 millimeters long. The bright red, dark green tipped flowers are on 5 to 8 millimeter long peduncles . They are 25 millimeters long and slightly curved. At the level of the ovary , the flowers have a diameter of 5 millimeters. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of 4 millimeters. The stamens and the stylus barely protrude from the flower.

The fruits are berries with a diameter of 20 millimeters.
Systematics and distribution
Aloe megalocarpa is widespread in the north of Madagascar in dense dry forests at a height of about 30 meters.
