Aloe oligophylla is a species of the genus Aloes in the subfamily of the Affodilla plants (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet oligophylla is derived from the Greek words oligos for 'little' and phyllon for 'leaf' and refers to the few leaves of the species.

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe oligophylla grows in a stem-forming manner. The two to four linear leaves form a rosette . The green leaf blade is 120 to 150 centimeters long and 1.2 to 1.5 centimeters wide. The green teeth on the leaf margin are 1 to 3 millimeters long and 12 to 25 millimeters apart.

Inflorescences and flowers

The simple inflorescence reaches a length of 20 to 28 centimeters. The rather dense grapes are 5 to 8 inches long. The deltoid bracts are 1 millimeter long. The flowers are on 12 to 15 millimeter long peduncles and are narrowed at their base.

Systematics and distribution

Aloe oligophylla is common in Madagascar .

The first description by John Gilbert Baker was published in 1883. A nomenclature synonym is Lomatophyllum oligophyllum H. Perrier (1926).
