description

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe parviflora grows stemless and simply with fleshy roots . The four to six spread out, linear leaves form a rosette and have rounded tips. The light green leaf blade is 20 to 25 centimeters long and 6 to 8 millimeters wide. There are many somewhat warty white spots on the underside of the leaf, especially near the base. There are tiny, whitish teeth on the leaf margin.

Inflorescences and flowers

The simple inflorescence reaches a length of up to 40 centimeters. The dense, heady grapes are 3 inches long and 3 inches wide. The ovate-pointed bracts have a length of 8 to 12 millimeters. The cloudy pink-red flowers are on 8 to 12 millimeter long peduncles . The flowers are cylindrical-triangular and 8 millimeters long. Above the ovary they are slightly narrowed towards the mouth. Your tepals are not fused together. The stamens and the stylus do not protrude from the flower.

Systematics and distribution

Aloe parviflora is widespread in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal in the grasslands at an altitude of 1000 meters.

The first description by John Gilbert Baker was published in 1901. Aloe parviflora is closely related to Aloe minima and was considered a synonym of this species by Hugh Francis Glen and David Spencer Hardy in 2000 .
