Linda Kay Lowry (born October 15, 1947 in East St. Louis , Illinois ) is an American actress , screenwriter , film producer and musician .

Life

Lowry was born in East St. Louis and grew up in neighboring Cahokia , Illinois for the first eleven years .

Acting career

After moving to Burbank at the age of twelve, she then began her acting career at Burbank High School in the plays You Live 105 Minutes , Portrait of a Madonna and the musical The Music Man . After her father was transferred to Decatur , Georgia for work , she began small school theater roles at Southwest Dekalb High School . During this time she acted and also began to act as a dramaturge and producer for countless plays. After graduating from the Georgia Governor's Honors Program, she won a scholarship in speaking and acting from the University of Georgia .

Movie

Lowry had 1970 her first film role at the age of 23 years in David E. Durstons Satanists - Horror I Drink Your Blood . After two small roles in the Lloyd Kaufman comedy The Battle of Love's Return and the horror drama Sugar Cookies, she had her first leading role in George A. Romero's The Crazies in 1973, directed by George A. Romero . After she had won over in the role of Kathy in The Crazies , she was cast by David Cronenberg a year later for his thriller Parasite Killer . In 2010, Lowry returned in her role as a motorcyclist with a cameo in the remake of The Crazies . In 2012, she played the serial killer Ginny Reilly in Debbie Rochon's directorial debut Model Hunger .

In 1974, she made her television acting debut with the rotated in 16 episodes NBC - soap opera How to Survive a Marriage and the soap Another World . After various film roles, she did not return until 1984 for the lead role in the CBS film drama A Woman Can't Forget . 1985-1989 she had a brief recurring role as a nurse Tina in the television series Knots Landing . In 1991 she shot the television drama Die Rache, her last television film to date .

Music career

In the 1980s she moved to Los Angeles and started her music career. She sang in a jazz band here and played with this score .

Model career

When her acting career stalled after a relationship ended, she began modeling in New York in the mid-1970s. During this time, her agency Wilhelmina Agency organized a photo shoot with Playboy under the direction of J. Fred Smith .

Private

In addition to her career in the media industry , she has been running a physiotherapy and massage practice in Los Angeles since 2000 . In this she also occasionally works as a physiotherapist and masseuse.
