Aloe peyrierasii is a species of the genus Aloes in the subfamily of the Affodilla plants (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet peyrierasii honors the French zoologist A. Peyrieras.

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe peyrierasii grows easily and in a stem-forming manner. The upright trunk reaches a length of up to 4 meters and is covered with dead leaves. The approximately 20 lanceolate leaves form a rosette . The yellowish green leaf blade is 165 centimeters long and 12 centimeters wide. The cartilaginous, violet-tinged leaf margins are 3 to 4 millimeters wide. The teeth on the leaf edge are 3 to 5 millimeters long and 12 to 27 millimeters apart.

Inflorescences and flowers

The inflorescence has two to four branches and reaches a length of 60 to 75 centimeters. The dense, cylindrical grapes are 8 to 10 centimeters long. The narrow lanceolate bracts have a length of about 20 millimeters. The flowers are on 25 to 30 millimeter long peduncles and are 25 to 30 millimeters long.

Systematics and distribution

Aloe peyrierasii is widespread in Madagascar in the undergrowth of the dry forest.

The first description by Georges Cremers was published in 1976.

A synonym is Lomatophyllum peyrierasii (Cremers) Rauh (1998).
