description
Vegetative characteristics
Aloe plowesii grows without a stem with spindle-shaped roots . The roughly ten linear, pointed leaves form a rosette . The cloudy green leaf blade is 20 to 30 centimeters long and 0.6 to 1 centimeter wide. It is covered with a few scattered small white spots near the base. The underside of the leaf is more dense. The white teeth on the leaf edge are 0.5 millimeters long and are 2 to 5 millimeters apart.
Inflorescences and flowers
The simple inflorescence reaches a length of 30 to 45 centimeters. The rather dense, cylindrical-conical grapes are 10 centimeters long and 6 centimeters wide. The egg-shaped-pointed bracts have a length of 15 millimeters and are 7 millimeters wide. The scarlet flowers are lighter to greenish at their mouth and stand on 30 millimeter long flower stalks . They are 30 to 35 millimeters long and narrowed briefly at their base. At the level of the ovary , the flowers have a diameter of 8 millimeters. They are not narrowed beyond that. Your outer tepals are not fused together. The stamens and the stylus barely protrude from the flower.
Systematics and distribution
Aloe plowesii is common on the border between Mozambique and Zimbabwe in grasslands at altitudes of 1370 to 1770 meters.
