Alois Erdtelt (born November 5, 1851 in Herzogswalde , Grottkau district , Province of Silesia , † January 18, 1911 in Munich ) was a German portrait painter and art teacher.

Thanks to the manorial estate owner von Hoenika, who noticed the boy's artistic talent, Alois Erdtelt studied at the Berlin Art Academy with Carl Steffeck and from January 25, 1876 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Wilhelm von Diez .

Erdtelt ran a private painting school for women in Munich, which worked until 1889. His students included u. a. Rosa Pfäffinger , Maria Slavona , Ida Gerhardi , Ivana Kobilca and Hedwig Weiß . From 1889 he taught at the Royal School of Applied Arts in Munich . He exhibited his works in the Munich Glass Palace . In 1889 he became a teacher at the Munich School of Applied Arts .

Every year he visited his home town of Herzogswalde.
