Alois Schwarz (chemist)
Alois Schwarz (born June 19, 1854 in Kanitz , † January 14, 1928 in Zuckmantel ) was a Moravian teacher and chemist .
Life
After attending grammar school in Brno , Alois Schwarz studied chemistry at the German Technical University in Brno . Here he became a member of the Corps Austria Brno in 1873 . In 1886 he also became a member of the Corps Marchia Brno .
After completing his studies, he was a substitute professor for chemistry at the secondary school in Brno until 1879 . From 1879 to 1902 he was a full professor at the regional high school in Mährisch-Ostrau . He then headed the German girls' grammar school in Mährisch-Ostrau, which was created on his initiative and which was later given the status of a reform grammar school through his efforts .
In addition to teaching, Schwarz worked on the further development of sugar manufacturing , beer brewing and the industrial use of artificial cold . Study and research trips took him to Paris, Germany, Belgium, England and Denmark. With studies and specialist publications resulting from these trips, he gained an international reputation, especially in the brewing industry and for refrigeration technology. He played a key role in the organization of numerous exhibitions and congresses, founded the Association for the Ice and Cold Industry and was editor of the " Journal of the Association for the Ice and Cold Industry " and the " Brewing Technical Review ". For almost five decades he worked for the " Österreichische Chemikerzeitung ".

- Delegate of the Moravian provincial government at the international fire service congress
- Juror of the international exhibition for fire protection and rescue in Berlin
- Member of the exhibition committee for the international exhibition for alcohol recycling and fermentation trade in 1904
- Member of the jury at the international hygiene exhibition in Vienna in 1906
- Co-organizer of the first international refrigeration congresses in Paris, 1908, Vienna, 1910, and Washington-Chicago, 1913
Awards
- Alois Schwarz received the honorary title of school councilor
