Aloys Butzkamm

Aloys Butzkamm (born February 14, 1935 in Elben ; † December 28, 2016 in Dortmund ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian, priest , psychologist and art historian.

Live and act

After attending elementary school in Elben and grammar school in Olpe , which he graduated from high school in 1955, he studied theology and psychology in Paderborn and Freiburg im Breisgau . After his ordination , which he received on July 22, 1960 in Paderborn, he worked as a vicar in Hagen - Eilpe and Letmathe - Grüne . He then worked as a diocesan youth pastor of the Archdiocese of Paderborn , as vicar in Castrop-Rauxel and as parish vicar in Letmathe-Stübeken. As a parish vicar he then headed the parish "Maria Königin" in Dortmund - Eichlinghofen . In addition to his professional activity, he studied psychology and art history at the Ruhr University Bochum , graduating in 1990 with a doctorate. phil. from. Butzkamm also worked as a clinical psychologist in various clinics. In 2000/2001 he taught at the Dormition in Jerusalem for one year .

In 2010 he was a parish representative for the German Catholic parish of Saint Paul in Istanbul for a few months .

For many years, Butzkamm was a part-time contact person for questions about Islam in the Archdiocese of Paderborn and as the diocesan chairman of the German Association of the Holy Land .

In addition to his diverse activities, he has emerged as the author of numerous books on theology, psychology and art history as well as on interreligious dialogue . Butzkamm was a member of the Lions Club Aloys Butzkamm was buried in the cemetery of his home parish in Wenden.
